Termos e Condições

Condições Gerais e RGPD – American School of Languages (ASL)

  2. O ano letivo da ASL é composto por 3 cursos trimestrais (de Outubro a Junho) e 6 cursos intensivos (de Julho a Setembro);
  3. O aluno apenas se encontra vinculado à ASL durante a vigência do curso em que se encontra matriculado (trimestre ou intensivo de Verão). Cabe ao aluno decidir quantos cursos deseja frequentar durante o ano letivo;
  4. O pagamento do curso a frequentar (trimestre ou intensivo) deverá ser feito na íntegra no ato da inscrição ou parcelado (2 tranches, em datas a estabelecer);
  5. Nº mínimo de alunos para abertura de turma: 2 (dois); nº máximo de alunos por turma: 9 (dez);
  6. Cada nível/trimestre corresponde a 25 (vinte e cinco) horas de formação;
  7. Se o aluno faltar às aulas da turma em que se encontra inscrito tem direito a aulas de compensação. As aulas podem ser compensadas nas turmas abertas nos horários alternativos. O aluno deve informar sempre os serviços administrativos da sua intenção de compensar aulas;
  8. O aluno pode solicitar a alteração da sua inscrição do horário em que se encontra inscrito para outro existente; essa alteração é feita desde que existam vagas no horário pretendido e deverá ser solicitada sempre junto dos serviços administrativos da ASL;
  9. Não são feitas devoluções depois de inscrito. O aluno tem conhecimento das datas de início e final de cada curso (calendário disponível nas brochuras de informação e website da ASL) sendo também da responsabilidade do aluno a escolha do horário pretendido entre as opções apresentadas para o seu nível. Exceção: a ASL cancelar a turma em que o aluno se encontrava inscrito e o aluno não puder alterar o seu horário;
  10. Revalidações: as revalidações de cursos só podem ser consideradas mediante a apresentação de justificativo por doença, alteração de horário de trabalho e a não disponibilidade de frequentar outros horários em funcionamento para o nível;

9.1        Caso seja aprovada a revalidação pela direção da ASL, o aluno tem um período de 6 (seis) meses para utilizar a modalidade revalidada (aulas de grupo, aulas individuais, etc.);

  1. A ASL tem acordos de cooperação com várias entidades, os quais habilitam os seus colaboradores, associados, clientes, familiares, etc. a descontos nas várias modalidades dos nossos cursos. A aplicação do desconto só é feita se o aluno se identificar como colaborador, associado, cliente, familiar, etc. da entidade com protocolo de cooperação, através da apresentação de uma declaração, cartão de sócio, etc. antes de efetuar a sua inscrição no curso pretendido. O aluno só pode usufruir de um desconto por curso e não são acumuláveis (ex: opta pelo desconto de empresa ou pelo desconto com Cartão Jovem);

General Conditions and General Data Protection Regulation – American School of Languages (ASL)

  1. Since January 2023, all the services provided by ASL have been online and our classes are livestream (group, individual; classes for companies). Corporate classes can take place on their premises, provided that the contracting entity so requests.
  2. The ASL academic year consists of 3 trimesters (from October to June) and 6 intensive courses (from July to September);
  3. Students are committed to the ASL only for the duration of the course in which they are registered (trimester or summer intensive course).  Although we recommend that students opt to continue their studies, it is their decision as to whether or not to enroll in future trimesters or summer courses.
  4. Payment for the course that a student chooses to attend (trimester or intensive) must be made in its entirety upon enrollment; alternatively, course fees can be divided into installments (2 installments).
  5. The minimum number of students required for the ASL to open a course is 2 (two); the maximum number of students per class is limited to 9 (nine) students.
  6. Each level/trimester consists of 25 (twenty-five) hours of instruction.
  7. If a student misses classes during his/her course, this student has the right to compensate for any absences by attending other classes that are operating at different schedules. In this case, the student must inform our administrative services of his/her intention to attend compensation classes.
  8. Students may opt to change their initial schedule and attend another class scheduled on different days and/or times. This change can only take place if the new class has vacancies; the request must always be made through the ASL administrative services:
  9. ASL course fees are non-refundable. Students are free to choose a course schedule (days and times) from the options initially presented to them for their level.  Once this takes place and payment has been made, fees cannot be refunded. Students should also be aware of the beginning and end dates of their courses (dates available on ASL brochures and on our website). Exception: refunds will be made if the ASL is forced to cancel a course for any reason and the students who are affected are unable to find another course at a schedule convenient to them.
  10. Revalidation: If students are unable to continue their lessons due to unforeseen circumstances, they may request a change in schedule to accommodate their new situation.  If a new class schedule cannot be found, they may request a revalidation of their course.       Note: The ASL can only revalidate courses for exceptional reasons, such as illness or changes in work schedules.
    • If the ASL approves a request for course revalidation, the student has 6 (six) months in which to attend a new course (group classes, private classes, etc.)
    • A student in this situation must choose the same module during the revalidation period as s/he selected originally. For example, if the student initially bought a block of 10 (ten) hours of private lessons, these lessons cannot be ‘changed’ to group classes. In other words, the amount paid initially cannot be applied to any other type of course. If the student is unable to attend a course of the same module, s/he can stand by until the end of the time frame indicated in 9.1.
  1. The ASL has signed numerous agreements with companies and organizations, authorizing them to offer discounts on ASL course fees to employees, associates, customers, family members, etc. In order for this discount to be applied, students from these entities must identify themselves before they complete the enrollment process by presenting a declaration, employee card, etc.  Students can only take advantage of one discount per course – discounts are not cumulative (i.e. a student must choose either the ASL discount offered via his/her Youth Card (Cartão Jovem) or the one available through his/her company.
  2. Each student is required to inform the ASL of changes to his/her personal information (address, telephone number, e-mail, ID information, etc.) so that we can keep our files updated.
  3. All of the above conditions take effect only after a student has registered in an ASL course.

The student data will be used by the American School for purposes of managing enrollment at this institution.

According to the effective date of May 25, 2018 of Ordinance (EU) no. 679/2016, of April 27th for the Protection of Personal Data, the student is hereby informed that all of the personal information provided on this form will be incorporated into personal data files belonging to the American School and hereby authorizes the use of this data in order for the contractual relationship to be maintained.

The student has the right at any time to modify or withdraw consent for the use of the personal data that s/he has provided.  In the event that a student decides to withdraw consent, we will immediately cease using his/her information, unless obliged by law to do the opposite.
